Prolapse Physio Bath

Pelvic Organ Prolapse Support in Bath & Corsham

If you’ve recently been told you have a prolapse, it can feel unsettling and very scary.

Many women describe a sense of shock, fear, or worry that something has “fallen” or that their body isn’t working properly anymore.

Pelvic organ prolapse is common — and in many cases, it is very manageable.

As a pelvic health physiotherapist (and mum of four), I understand how important it is to feel strong and capable in your body — especially when life is busy.

I offer specialist prolapse physio in Bath and Corsham, helping women understand their symptoms and move forward with confidence.

Your questions about prolapse, answered

What Is Prolapse?

Pelvic organ prolapse happens when the pelvic floor and supporting tissues become less supportive, allowing the bladder, uterus or rectum to descend slightly.

You might notice:

  • A feeling of heaviness or dragging

  • A bulge or pressure sensation

  • Symptoms that worsen by the end of the day

  • Changes in bladder habits

This does not automatically mean that you need surgery.

Can Physiotherapy Help?

Yes — for many women, physiotherapy is the first step.

Prolapse physio focuses on:

  • Improving pelvic floor coordination

  • Managing pressure through breathing and movement

  • Strengthening safely

  • Adapting exercise where needed

  • Building long-term resilience

This isn’t about endless squeezing. It’s about learning how your body works — and supporting it properly.

What About Exercise?

One of the biggest fears I hear is:

“Does this mean I have to stop lifting weights, or running?”

In most cases — no.

You may need to adjust how you exercise, especially with high impact or heavy lifting, but movement is still important.

I help women:

  • Modify workouts safely

  • Return to strength training gradually

  • Reduce symptoms while staying active

  • Feel confident, not fearful

The goal is strength — not restriction.

What to Expect

Your initial appointment includes:

  • Time to talk through your symptoms and concerns

  • Pelvic floor assessment (internal is always optional)

  • Movement and core assessment

  • A personalised plan

You’ll leave with clarity — and a practical way forward.

A Collaborative Approach

If further support is needed, such as pessary fitting or referral to a consultant, I take a collaborative approach and can guide you through next steps.

You won’t be navigating decisions alone.

“I felt heavy and sore down there - Claire suggested I see a hormone specialist and we worked on strengthening my glutes. Now, I forget I ever had a prolapse, I'm more active, my pelvic floor is stronger and my vaginal tissues are comfortable again. I've told all my friends I have an excellent vaginal physio! Thank you Claire”
